Q: Why network marketing?
A: In the early ‘90s, I graduated from Belfast University with a degree in international finance. I was at the top of my class and could have walked into any career in the world of finance that I wanted. My peers were excited about their jobs, but I had a sick feeling in my gut as I thought about my future. So I grabbed a backpack and spent a year in Africa. I came back with clarity about life’s purpose but more confused than ever about my career. After I returned, someone handed me a book—the only book I’ve ever read from cover to cover in one sitting. It was a book about network marketing, and when I read it, my future became crystal clear. I knew immediately that was what I wanted to do. Freedom is the single greatest motivator in my life, and I found that freedom—time freedom and financial freedom—in network marketing.
Q: Why ASEA?
A: I grew up in Ireland, and it was there that I first started working in network marketing. When I came to the United States, I discovered every kind of network marketing opportunity that you could imagine. I was like a kid in a candy store! I guess you could say I had to kiss a few frogs to find my princess. I actually left network marketing for a time, disillusioned and discouraged. I vowed I wouldn’t come back unless I found a company that had two things: a breakthrough technology in the health and wellness field and leaders whom I could trust. I checked off both those boxes with ASEA.
Q: How do you build your business?
A: I’m not a salesperson; I’m a teacher. I also have a gift for taking complex things and breaking them down into simple, accessible ideas. I knew that if I was going to take this seriously, I had to create tools. I put together a simple presentation and a basic training program, and that’s what I’ve used from the beginning—and continue to use today—along with my faststart training and a daily 30-minute weekday call that anyone, whether they are on my team or not, can participate in.
